Clinical Trainer
For the past 15 years, Dr. Allen has provided continuing professional education for social workers,
counselors, psychologists, and psychiatrists working in the areas of child welfare (child protective services, foster care,
and adoptions) mental health (inpatient, outpatient, private practice), and schools (counseling staff).
She has delivered workshops in 1- to 3-day formats to professionals in Texas and California in the following topic areas:
- Attachment Disorder (from birth through adulthood)
- Cognitive and Behavioral Deficits of Prenatal Substance-Exposed Children
- Understanding and Treating Sex Offenders
- Understanding and Using the DSM-IV-TR (psychiatric diagnosis)
- Developmental Injuries Resulting from Domestic Violence (child abuse by proxy)
- Predicting Youth Violence (use of FBI Indicators)
- Posttraumatic Stress Disorder in Women and Children
- Borderline, Antisocial, and Narcissistic Personality Disorders
- Understanding and Responding to Brain-Based Behavior
- Therapeutic Parenting for Foster and Adoptive Children
